Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu could leave Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan this summer, according to The Athletic.
Premier League clubs have reportedly registered an interest in Ugochukwu, and Chelsea will review loan options for the midfielder.
The 20-year-old signed a seven-year contract after joining Chelsea in a £23.5 million deal from Stade Rennais last summer.
However, his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge was beset by a hamstring injury, forcing him to sit out 30 games during the season.
Ugochukwu only managed 15 appearances across all competitions under former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, racking up just 297 minutes of Premier League football.
His hamstring problem ruled him out for four months. He returned to fitness at the end of the season and was handed just 27 minutes of action in the final two games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth.
Chelsea have now decided to send the Frenchman out on loan this summer but will look for a club that can offer him regular playing time to help him rediscover his form.
Ugochukwu only started in three of his 12 appearances for the Blues last term, but his impressive numbers showcased his enormous talent.
He was a dominant force in the air, winning 82% of his aerial duels. He also recorded a solid 59% success rate in ground duels.
Chelsea want to send Ugochukwu on loan to a Premier League club, and three teams have already shown interest in the midfielder. A number of European teams are also monitoring his situation.
After signing Ugochukwu from Rennes, Chelsea wanted to send him on loan to sister club RC Strasbourg, but Pochettino wanted to keep him in the squad.
With reports suggesting Andrey Santos could be integrated into new manager Enzo Maresca’s plans for the 2024/25 season, Ugochukwu would be better off joining a club that can offer regular playing time.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are on the cusp of signing versatile Portuguese midfielder Renato Veiga from FC Basel in a £12 million deal.
