Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Sky Sports News.
Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli this summer, but interested parties have baulked at the club’s outrageous asking price.
Osimhen reportedly prefers a move to the Premier League, but his £109 million release clause has proven to be a stumbling block for Arsenal and Chelsea, who have shown interest in the striker.
However, Napoli have shown a willingness to negotiate a deal, and PSG are now looking to strike an agreement that could include a player moving in the opposite direction.
PSG have offered one of Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele, and South Korean forward Lee Kang-in as a potential makeweight in their bid to sign Osimhen.
Kang-in is the only player Napoli has indicated an interest in, so it remains to be seen if both clubs can strike an agreement.
PSG’s interest in Osimhen could spark a domino effect that ultimately takes Romelu Lukaku to Napoli. They have identified the Chelsea outcast as an ideal replacement for Osimhen.
New Napoli manager Antonio Conte is a huge fan of the Belgian international. They worked together at Inter Milan, winning the Serie A for the first time in over a decade in 2021.
Lukaku spent last season on loan at AS Roma, notching 21 goals and four assists in 47 games across all competitions.
The 31-year-old has two years left on his contract with Chelsea, but the Blues are keen to get his enormous salary off their wage bill this summer.
Chelsea have pegged Lukaku’s asking price at around £38m, but Corriere dello Sport (Page 6) reports that Napoli are only prepared to pay £21m for the striker.
The former Manchester United striker, who Jose Mourinho has described as a ‘team player‘, has also had interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
