Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie set for Ibrox exit

Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is finally on the verge of leaving Ibrox.

According to a report from the Scottish Sun, the 26-year-old will join Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.

The newspaper reported online that McCrorie, who has only a year left on his current deal at Ibrox, is close to signing a two-year deal at Rugby Park.

While the goalkeeper travelled with the Rangers squad to the Netherlands for pre-season training, Kili expect to complete the move within the next 24 hours.

Kili boss Derek McInnes is looking for a new first-choice goalkeeper and has earmarked McCrorie as an ideal replacement for Will Dennis, who has returned to AFC Bournemouth.

Robby McCrorie set for Ibrox exit

Throughout the summer, the goalkeeper’s future was the subject of intense speculation, and it was expected that he would leave at some point.

McCrorie has progressed through the youth ranks at Ibrox, but in all these years he has played only a handful of games for his boyhood club.

At this stage of his career, he cannot afford to warm the bench anymore, and with his contract at Rangers expiring, it makes sense for him to move elsewhere.

McCrorie was looking to join a club where he would get regular games, and it appears that he will secure his exit from Ibrox shortly.

Chris Jack reported on 27 June that a host of Scottish Premiership clubs are looking to sign McCrorie, who would cost around £500,000. But Kili appears to have won the race for his signature.

Clement has already signed his replacement after Liam Kelly arrived this summer on a free transfer after his contract expired at Motherwell. The vastly experienced goalkeeper is expected to challenge Jack Butland for the starting role at Ibrox.
