FC Twente centre-back Robin Propper has arrived in the UK ahead of his move to Rangers, and he is currently undergoing a medical in Manchester this evening, according to Sky Sports.
The 30-year-old is set to join the Scottish Premiership club after they agreed a deal with Twente earlier today to sign him.
Propper will be replacing Connor Goldson at Rangers after the Englishman left for Aris Limassol, and he will be their ninth summer signing after deals for Vaclav Cerny, Hamza Igamane, Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Liam Kelly, Connor Barron and Oscar Cortes – who rejoined on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.
Ivory Coast international winger Mohamed Diomande also made his loan move to the Ibrox club permanent after impressing during the second half of last term, and manager Philippe Clement will hope he has a squad capable of strongly challenging Celtic for the title by the time the summer transfer window shuts.
While Propper is coming in to bolster his squad, Dutch forward Sam Lammers left Rangers in the opposite direction to join Twente last week for an initial fee of £2.5 million, and Robby McCrorie has joined Kilmarnock.
The Light Blues released Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, John McLaughlin and Kemar Roofe at the end of last season after their contracts expired, and fans will hope the recruitment made this summer is enough to get the job done.
An official announcement for Propper is expected in the coming days, and the veteran defender will be looking forward to hitting the ground running when the 2024-25 campaign kicks off.
The Dutchman brings plenty of quality and experience to the table, with over 300 games to his name as a professional footballer, and Rangers will hope they have made the right decision by signing him.
Propper could make his debut in the Scottish Premiership opener against Heart of Midlothian this weekend, and an impressive debut will see him immediately win the Gers fans over.
