West Ham in talks to sign Niclas Fullkrug

West Ham are desperate to bolster their forward department in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, but they have not been able to broker a deal for him.

West Ham have had two bids rejected, as Villa are not softening their stance yet. Villa have slapped a £40 million asking price, and West Ham are refusing to meet it.

It appears that they have shifted their attention elsewhere.

Dharmesh Sheth claimed yesterday that Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug has emerged as one of the targets for the Hammers, and it seems initial talks have taken place to sign the German international.

West Ham in talks to sign Niclas Fullkrug

Sheth has provided another update on Fullkrug today. The Sky Sports journalist says that the Hammers have opened talks to sign the 31-year-old striker.

At the moment, West Ham are discussing terms of the deal, and it is “understood” that the player is open to joining the Hammers.

West Ham will not have any issues agreeing personal terms with the player. He still has two years remaining on his current deal at Dortmund, so West Ham needs to agree a feel with the German giants to sign him.

Sheth wrote on X: “West Ham United have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of striker Niclas Fullkrug.

“West Ham are discussing the conditions of a deal. It is understood Fullkrug is open to the move and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.”

Niclas Fullkrug will be a smart signing for West Ham

With Michail Antonio approaching the latter stages of his career, West Ham need to sign another striker to either replace him or complement him.

While he is not a young striker, he can still do a decent job for the next few years, allowing West Ham the time to plan forward to sign a young replacement next season.

Fullkrug scored 15 goals in his debut campaign at Dortmund last season and has netted 122 goals for multiple clubs in his career. He has also scored 13 goals for Germany and has never played outside the Bundesliga.
