West Ham negotiating deal to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran

West Ham are working on several deals at the moment, and signing a new striker is a priority for them.

The Hammers have heavily relied on Michail Antonio over the years, while Jarrod Bowen was used as a frontman where he excelled last season.

Bowen is primarily an attacking midfielder and Julen Lopetegui is unlikely to use him as a striker next season.

Antonio is fast approaching the fag end of his career, and it is high time the club look for a new option upfront. Antonio wants to stay at the London club for another year, but a long-term replacement is necessary.

Danny Ings remain another option for Lopetegui, but he has somehow failed to recapture the goalscoring form that he showed for Aston Villa.

West Ham are working on a deal to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers are in negotiation with Aston Villa to sign Jhon Duran.

Romano claimed on 9 July that West Ham have submitted one bid for the Colombian striker who has already agreed personal terms with the Hammers.

While Villa rate the striker highly, they are ready to offload him if the offer is good enough. Ollie Watkins remains the first-choice striker at the club, and Duran will find it hard to replace him in the starting line-up.

West Ham’s last proposal was worth around £35 million plus a 10% sell-on clause, and it is unclear whether they have made another improved offer.

Romano wrote: “Negotiations continue with West Ham to agree on Jhon Durán deal, he wants the move.”

The Hammers have already signed Max Kilman for £40 million and Duran could be another expensive signing for the club.

Duran made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and scored eight goals, and his quality is undeniable.

In other West Ham news, Premier League rival have joined race to sign 24-year-old player Hammers badly wants.
