West Ham United are reportedly pursuing a deal to sign Lens star Elye Wahi.
The 21-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side last summer and hit the ground running at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
He made 36 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 12 goals and creating four assists in the process.
The Frenchman’s best performance came in their 2-1 Champions League victory against Arsenal in October when he scored one goal and created another.
Despite being contracted with Lens until 2028, Wahi is expected to leave amid interest from the Premier League.
According to L’Equipe, West Ham United are interested in bringing the young striker to London this summer.
But they face competition from Chelsea and Leicester City who are also keen on the player.
The Hammers have already signed Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham so far, but they are also in the market for a new striker.
The East Londoners have been attempting to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.
Julen Lopetegui’s side made an improved £32 million bid to sign the Colombian but that was turned down by the Lions.
It appears West Ham have now turned their focus on Wahi who mainly plays as a centre-forward but can also operate on the wings.
However, a deal for the 21-year-old is unlikely to be easy as Lens could also demand a premium fee to let their prized asset leave.
