Everton are expected to complete the signing of Denmark winger Jesper Lindstrom by the end of the week.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Toffees have completed the deal to sign the 24-year-old player on loan from Napoli.
The Danish winger will undergo his medical at the club shortly. Everton will have the option to sign him permanently next summer, and if they do, Lindstrom will sign a four-year deal at the club.
It will now allow the Toffees to move on to other targets, despite the takeover setback this month.
Everton have money to spend to strengthen their squad after Aston Villa signed Amadou Onana for £50 million earlier this week.
Yorkshire Evening Post reported that the Toffees could now make a move for Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto, who remains one of the top priorities for the Toffees.
According to a fresh report from Inews, Gnonto is understood to be keen on the move, but the deal is expected to be difficult to broker.
Everton could struggle to sign Wilfried Gnonto
The Toffes are operating within tight financial parameters and are not willing to overspend. The Merseyside club have generated transfer funds through the sale of Onana, Ben Godfrey, and Lewis Dobbin and will only sign Gnonto if it fits their budget.
Had Everton approached Leeds last month, they would have had a better chance of signing Gnonto. Leeds were looking to offload a few players to comply with the PSR and could have been tempted to sell.
However, after selling a raft of players, including Archie Gray, to Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds do not need to sell any of their key players unless there’s a big offer on the table.
Gnonto handed in a transfer request last summer to force a move but there is no indication that he desperately wants to leave. So, the Toffees will have to submit a really good offer to lure him away from Elland Road.
