Arsenal move carries appeal to Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling

Chelsea star Raheem Sterling eyes England return under new manager

Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino following the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

However, a few more new faces could arrive at the Emirates Stadium before the transfer window closes on August 30.

The Gunners are in the market for a new forward and could make a late move for Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling.

According to The Athletic, a move to the Emirates Stadium carries appeal for the England international.

This is because of the location, progress and stability as well as how well he knows Mikel Arteta.

Sterling boasts plenty of experience in the Premier League, having made over 370 appearances in the English top-flight.

His time at Manchester City saw him lifting four Premier League and five EFL Cup trophies.

The winger joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £47.5 million, and he went on to establish himself as an important player in West London.

However, his fortunes received a massive blow this summer after the appointment of Enzo Maresca as new manager.

The Italian boss is yet to feature the forward in 2024-25 and so he is seeking a move away from the Blues before the transfer deadline.

Sterling could be a good signing for Arsenal given he is very talented and has a lot of experience at the top level of football. But his salary will likely be a big problem as he is currently on a massive £325,000-per-week wages at Chelsea (The Guardian).
