Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has completed his move to Crystal Palace in a deal worth around £30 million on deadline day.
The 25-year-old’s future in North London remained a source of speculation throughout this summer.
At one point, he looked poised to join Nottingham Forest after they reached an agreement on transfer fee with the Gunners.
However, the move ultimately collapsed as Forest couldn’t finalise terms with the England international.
Nketiah has now sealed a transfer to Palace to play under Austrian boss Oliver Glasner.
The striker posted an emotional message on social media to thank everyone at Arsenal for their support in his journey.
He wrote on his Instagram: “As I say goodbye, I want to take this time to say thank you to everyone at the club, from my teammates to all the wonderful staff who have been a part of my journey and have made this place home for so many years.
“Working my way up from Hale End to the first team was a dream come true. It taught me what it means to play for the club and what a privilege it is to wear the shirt. I never took it for granted and gave my all every time I stepped on the pitch.
“From scoring my first senior goal against Norwich in 2017, to making over 100 appearances for Arsenal, I have made memories here I shall carry with me for the rest of my life.
“I’m grateful to have felt your support and I’ll cherish the memories we have made”.
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice responded to his farewell message by writing: “Will miss you brother”.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori also reacted with heart emojis.
Eddie Nketiah joined the Gunners’ academy in 2015 and went on to make his professional debut two years later against BATE Borisov in the Europa League.
He made 168 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League giants, scoring 38 goals in the process.
However, the 25-year-old failed to establish himself as a key member of Mikel Arteta’s team and was limited to just 10 league starts last term.
Despite his contract expiring in 2029, the North Londoners decided to cash in on him this summer and he has now joined Palace.
