Aston Villa and Newcastle in transfer race for Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz

Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz has been earning rave reviews with his performances in recent years.

The 24-year-old made 55 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring seven goals and creating 12 assists in the process.

He also started all five matches for Turkey at Euro 2024 as the national team made it to the quarter-finals of the competition, where they lost to the Netherlands.

The winger’s excellent displays have caught the attention of Aston Villa and Newcastle United, and a move to the Premier League now looks on the cards for him.

The two English teams sent scouts to watch the forward play in Galatasaray’s 2-1 win over Hatayspor and were impressed with his energy and positioning, per ABC Gazetesi

Villa have had a very busy summer transfer window as they have added the likes of Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen and Jaden Philogene.

But they are still in the market for a winger as a replacement for Moussa Diaby who left to join Al-Ittihad in a deal worth around 60 million.

The Lions could make a move for Alper Yilmaz but it may take a huge fee to sign the player who is contracted with Galatasaray until 2027.

Newcastle are also said to be keen on the 24-year-old but it looks unlikely they will lodge a bid for him this summer.

The Magpies have recently confirmed the signing of William Osula from Sheffield United. He is capable of playing as a winger as well as a lone striker, and so adding another winger doesn’t make much sense.
