Aston Villa have done incredible business this summer, and Unai Emery could still look to add one or two more players.
The Villans needed to bolster their squad after qualifying for the Champions League last season. To balance domestic and European commitments, Emery has focused on adding depth and quality to the side.
Despite losing Moussa Diaby and Douglas Luiz, Villa have replenished the void by adding as many as eight new players.
There could be more arrivals before the end of the month, as Villa might look to sign a new defender with Diego Carlos likely to be sold.
Premier League rivals Fulham are trying to sign the Brazilian defender, and they have already submitted an opening bid, which was rejected.
If he leaves, which is likely, Aston Villa are expected to sign a replacement.
They have been heavily linked with moves for Lutsharel Geertruida and Joe Gomez, and Matt Law of The Telegraph claims that Villa are interested in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as well.
Crystal Palace are also keen to sign the 25-year-old defender, and could move for him if Marc Guehi leaves the club.
Law wrote on X: “As well as Lutsharel Geertruida and Joe Gomez, Aston Villa like Trevoh Chalobah as they consider possible replacements for Diego Carlos. Crystal Palace also like Chalobah.”
Chalobah was not included in Chelsea’s pre-season tour to the United States and he is likely to be sold this summer.
The Blues would demand a fee of around £25 million for the defender. The next few days will be very interesting, as Villa might move for him if Carlos leaves.
Chalobah emerged from the youth ranks at Chelsea and has made 80 appearances in all competitions for the senior side thus far. Last season, he was plagued by injuries and still managed 17 appearances for the Blues.
