Aston Villa keen on Besiktas attacking midfielder Ernest Muci

Aston Villa are one of the clubs interested in recruiting the services of Besiktas attacking midfielder Ernest Muci this summer, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.

The 12-cap Albania international joined the Super Lig club in February from Legia Warsaw but Besiktas are willing to cash in on him if suitors are willing to pay £12 million for him.

Villa have been linked with Muci, but they will be facing competition from West Ham United for his signature.

The 23-year-old ended 2023-24 with 13 goals and two assists in 51 games across both clubs, and it appears Villans manager Unai Emery is a fan.

The Midlands club are looking to challenge for the Premier League title this season after finishing fourth last term, but they need quality depth across all departments to successfully juggle their European and domestic commitments, and adding Muci to their attacking ranks could come in handy.

The Albanian bagged 21 goals and ten assists in 114 games while at Legia Warszawa and ended his time with KF Tirana with 23 goals and five assists in 74 games, and Villa could do with such an attacker.

They have already spent the most money on transfers in Europe this summer as they prepare for their first season in the Champions League since it was rebranded in 1992.

Villa have splashed £150 million recruiting the likes of Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Jaden Philogene, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley, while Omar Khedr, Max Jenner and Ethan Amundsen have joined their youth ranks.

They could still add a few more quality players to the team in the coming days, and Muci could be joining if Villa meet the asking price of Besiktas.
