Aston Villa want to sign Giovani Lo Celso

Aston Villa are showing keen interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer.

The Villans have been very busy in the transfer window and have added as many as eight new players already.

Unai Emery could still look to add a few more players to the side, especially a centre-back if Diego Carlos leaves the club to join Fulham.

It appears that the Villans could also be looking to sign another attacking-minded midfielder, despite signing Ross Barkley from Luton Town.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs could still allow the Argentine midfielder to leave the club this summer.

Lo Celso is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, and more clubs could join the race to lure him away from the north London club.

Romano wrote on X: “Giovani Lo Celso was not part of Tottenham squad today as he can still leave in the final 20 days.

“Real Betis and Aston Villa are interested and still keen with more clubs monitoring the situation.”

Giovani Lo Celso would be a fantastic signing for Aston Villa

Villa will be playing in the Champions League next season and Emery needs to add more depth and quality to the side.

The 57-time capped Argentine international joined Spurs initially on loan and later the move was made permanent. He has made 108 appearances for Spurs, scoring 11 goals.

Postecoglou has stressed the importance of adding more players to the ranks, and he could offload some of his unwanted players. Already Bryan Gil and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been sipped out, and Lo Celso could find himself playing elsewhere next season.

Lo Celso made 24 appearances for Spurs last season before succumbing to injury problems. Spurs have enough depth in midfield areas, and can afford to cash in on the player.

He has a contract at the north London club until 2025, and Villa can look to sign him at a bargain price.
