Barcelona have been chasing a move for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams.
But the Spain international has been handed the number 10 shirt at the Basque outfit, suggesting he will stay at the Estadio San Mames for another season.
The Catalans haven’t given up hope of signing Williams but they are also reportedly looking at alternative targets.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are eyeing a move for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
Diaz has been one of the most important players for the Reds since joining the club in 2022 for £51 million (The Athletic). .
He is contracted with the Premier League giants until 2027 but can be signed by paying the £49.5m release clause in his deal.
The 27-year-old is said to be a Barca fan and could be tempted to come to Spain this summer.
However, Liverpool are not expected to offer any discounts for the Colombia international and they would have to pay the full amount for his transfer.
Diaz would be an excellent acquisition for Barcelona who will be looking to make a comeback after finishing 10 points behind Real Madrid last season.
The Colombian mainly plays as a left winger but he can also be utilised on the right wing as well as in midfield.
Diaz scored eight goals and created five assists in 37 league matches last term, averaging 2.5 shots, 44 touches and 1.8 key passes per game.
He also started all six matches for Colombia at the Copa America 2024 as his country made it to the final of the tournament, where they eventually lost to Argentina.
