Bayern Munich have now told Noussair Mazraoui to join Manchester United

A deal for Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui to join Manchester United is almost done after the Bundesliga club gave the green light, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.

Bayern rejected a joint bid from the Red Devils for the Morocco international and Matthijs de Ligt a few days ago, but it appears an agreement has finally been reached between both clubs for the 26-year-old.

The full-back is now expected to jet into England in the coming days, and his medical has been scheduled for Tuesday if all goes to plan.

Man United have already agreed personal terms with Mazraoui, offering him a five-year contract, which includes an option to extend by 12 months.

The Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag wants the former Ajax star to be available for selection when they take on Manchester City in the FA Community Shield next weekend.

The player has already been told he is surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena club, and a move is now expected to be sealed to take him to the Theatre of Dreams in the new week.

While he is primarily a right-back, Mazraoui can also play as a left-back, which is a huge reason Man United want him.

Luke Shaw is yet to resume for pre-season while Tyrell Malacia is not due to return until after two months, which has left Harry Amass as the only available left-back right now.

Mazraoui could be featuring in the position when they take on Man City next Saturday, with Ten Hag desperate to start 2024-25 with a silverware.

Man United want to strengthen at centre-back with new signing Leny Yoro out of action for three months following an injury, which could see them return with an improved bid for De Ligt.

Having both the Netherlands international and Moroccan available for the Man City game will be a massive boost, and the Red Devils will be working towards exactly that.
