Chelsea outcast David Datro Fofana has emerged as a potential target for Premier League newcomers Leicester City, according to the Daily Mail.
Fofana was regarded as a highly rated prospect when he joined the club from Molde in January 2023 but has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea paid £10.2 million to snap him up, but the striker was shipped out on two separate loan stints at Union Berlin and Burnley last season.
Fofana netted just twice in 17 games across all competitions for Union before returning to the Premier League for a second loan spell.
He spent the remaining six months of the season at Burnley, netting four times in 15 Premier League games as the Clarets were relegated to the Championship.
Despite his recent struggles, his performances for Burnley have fuelled interest in his services this summer and Leicester are among clubs looking to snap him up.
Fofana is not in Chelsea’s long-term plans and is expected to leave the club this summer.
The Blues will prefer to sell him on a permanent deal but are open to loan options that include a mandatory purchase clause.
Despite the array of young talents currently on their roster, Chelsea are still in the market for a new striker and recent reports claim they are planning a stunning double deal to sign Samu Omorodion and Victor Osimhen.
The west Londoners have already seen at least one bid rejected for Omorodion, but Atletico Madrid will soften their stance on the player’s future if they can pull off a deal for Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.
Meanwhile, Chelsea also maintain an interest in Osimhen, who is expected to leave Napoli this summer.
New Napoli manager and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to reunite with Romelu Lukaku in Naples, and both clubs are in negotiations over a potential player-plus-cash deal.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will meet Napoli’s lofty demands or if their new wage structure can accommodate a high-profile signing like Osimhen.
