Crystal Palace keen to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah

Crystal Palace are looking to bring in a few players to Selhurst Park before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Eagles lost two games in a row in the Premier League, and their latest defeat against West Ham last week gives a clear indication that the squad is in need of reinforcement.

Palace have been linked with a move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, but they are also looking to sign a defender as well.

The Eagles sold Joachim Andersen this month, who joined Fulham for a fee of around £30 million.

They have made an offer worth up to £14m for Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix, but Palace are also checking on other options.

According to a report from South London Press, Palace are also keen to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The club’s Sporting director, Dougie Freedman, is keen to sign the 25-year-old defender who has become surplus to requirements at the club.

He is not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans and the Blues will be more than happy to offload him, preferably on a permanent deal.

Chelsea left him out of the club’s pre-season tours, and he has yet to play in the Premier League this season.

Todd Boehly hailed him as an “exceptional” player and Chelsea handed him a long-term deal that would keep him at the club until 2028, with an option of extending for another year.

With Palace increasingly likely to keep Marc Guehi with them, unless Newcastle make a massive bid close to their valuation, it makes sense for Glasner to sign someone with proven Premier League experience.

Since progressing from the club’s youth academy, Chalobah has made 80 Premier League appearances for the club. His fitness could be an issue, but Palace can at least try to bring him on loan with an option to sign him next summer.
