Crystal Palace are looking to bring in a new defender this summer at Selhurst Park irrespective of what the future holds for Marc Guehi.
According to a recent report from The Telegraph, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is being targeted by the Eagles as they weigh up for the potential departure of Guehi.
Chalobah, who was not included in Chelsea’s pre-season tour to the United States, is a serious option for Palace. Chelsea are looking to offload him and would demand a fee of around £25 million for the defender.
Premier League rival West Ham are also thought to be in the race to sign the Blues defender with talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook claiming that the Hammers want to sign him.
However, the Eagles may have just received a huge boost in their race to sign Chalobah after major development at West Ham in the last 24 hours.
West Ham look for options elsewhere
The Hammers needed to sign a new defender despite landing Max Kilman, and they are close to signing French defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
The 24-year-old Nice defender was certain to join Juventus but in a dramatic turn of events, he is now heading towards joining West Ham, and medical scheduled later today.
West Ham are signing him on loan with a view to making it permanent at the end of the season. Julen Lopetegui will have two solid defenders and doubts remain whether they will move for Chalobah.
Door open for Crystal Palace to sign Chalobah
With Fulham chasing Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos, this is a very good opportunity for Crystal Palace to secure the signing of Chalobah.
After finishing strongly towards the end of the season, Oliver Glasner deserves to be properly backed in the market.
Bolstering the defence will be a priority and Chalobah will be a terrific addition to the side. They must do everything now to get him on board.
