Everton agree deal to sign Asmir Begovic

Everton are on course to secure their sixth summer signing.

This has been a fantastic summer transfer window for the Toffees, who have made five signings already, including Jack Harrison, who has rejoined on loan from Leeds United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have agreed a deal to sign the Bosnian goalkeeper.

The veteran goalkeeper has agreed on a one-year deal until next summer, and he will undergo his medical within the next 48 hours.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper left the club last summer, but it looks like a cracking piece of business to bring him back at Goodison Park on a free transfer.

Last season, Begovic played for QPR in the Championship, where he made 46 appearances, and Dyche must have felt, the Bosnian can still play at the highest level.

Everton have added players such as Iliman Ndiaye, Jake O’Brien, Jesper Lindstrom and Harrison to the side, and Sean Dyche could look to add one or two players if the Toffees can get the right candidates on the cheap.

Romano wrote on X: “Everton have agreed deal to sign Asmir Begović as new goalkeeper. One year deal until June 2025, medical this week likely to be in the next 24/48h. Begović, back to Everton.”

Begovic is a vastly experienced goalkeeper. He has played for clubs like Stoke City, Chelsea, AFC Bournemouth and Everton and has been at several clubs on loan.

In total, he has made 447 appearances in his club career and played 63 times for his country before he retired.

Begovic joined Everton in the summer of 2021 and made only ten appearances for the Toffees, including four Premier League appearances. He is unlikely to play regularly for the Toffees this season, but his experience could still be valuable for the club.

Everton have been linked with a move for Atletico-MG striker Alisson who is seen as one of the biggest prospects of the club’s academy.
