Everton could probably look to add one more player to their ranks before the end of the transfer window.
This has been a brilliant transfer window for the Toffees, with Sean Dyche bringing in five new players, including Jack Harrison, who has returned to Goodison Park on loan yet again.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Everton are one of the clubs keen to sign Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier.
The 33-year-old versatile defender wants to leave Newcastle before the end of the window and a move to Goodison Park cannot be ruled out.
He will turn 34 next month and still has two more years left on his current deal. Eddie Howe is a big admirer of the player who wishes to explore fresh opportunities.
The 54-time capped England international could lose his starting place to Tino Livramento this season, and he is looking to join a club where he will get regular chances.
Ornstein says that Everton wish to add quality in the full-back areas and have held initial conversations with Newcastle to express their interest in the defender.
Sean Dyche has previously worked with Trippier at Burnley, and it makes sense for the Toffees to sign a player of his calibre.
The Toffees boss, however, has remained coy on the matter.
When asked to comment on the Trippier link, he said – “He’s one of many names that have come up here. As if by magic when we haven’t got a right-back!”
He played a massive role for Newcastle since joining the side in the January window of 2022 from Atletico Madrid.
Trippier played a crucial role in the team’s qualification for the Champions League and made 92 appearances for the Magpies. He scored a “sensational” free-kick against Manchester City, and has produced some memorable performances at St James’ Park.
The highly-experienced defender is on high wages, and matching it could be a problem for the Toffees.
