Everton are looking to add a few more players to their ranks this summer, and Sean Dyche could prioritize signing a new striker.
The Toffees have Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto in their ranks, but another exciting young striker could make the squad even better.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Everton have submitted a bid to sign Barcelona striker Vitor Roque.
The Toffees have offered around (€25m + €3m add-ons) for the 19-year-old striker who joined Barcelona last season.
Barcelona rejected the offer immediately, demanding a fee of around €30-35 million. This means Everton could need to pay an extra fee of £4 million to secure his signature.
The Toffees are still in talks with Deco to sign the Brazilian striker who has a contract at the Catalan club until 2031.
Plettenberg wrote on X: “FC Everton continuing to explore deal to sign Vitor Roque … with a first offer of €25m + €3m add-ons.
“Immediately rejected by Barcelona as they want €30-35m. Understand that Everton are in ongoing talks with Deco. 19 y/o striker from Barca with a contract until 2031.”
Roque is a highly-talented striker but it could be a big gamble to pay such a high transfer fee for someone who is hitherto unproven at this level.
At this price, Sean Dyche could easily sign someone with Premier League experience, but Everton probably have a different transfer strategy.
The Toffees have money to spend after selling Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, although Inews claimed that Everton can only afford to sign players on loans.
This has been a fantastic transfer window for Everton as they added five players, including Jack Harrison who joined on loan from Leeds United once again.
It would be a big statement of intent if Everton can manage to pull off a deal for Roque. Despite their financial troubles, the club have shown ambition in the market and have tried their best to support Dyche with quality signings.
