Fulham re-open talks with Manchester United over Scott McTominay

Manchester United have already lost Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek this summer, but more departures are expected before the transfer deadline.

Fulham have reportedly re-opened talks with United over the signing of Scott McTominay.

The Cottagers had two bids turned down by the Red Devils, with their last offer said to be around £20 million.

The West London outfit appeared to have ended their pursuit of the midfielder as United were holding out for a fee around £30m.

But Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth reports Fulham have re-opened talks and are expected to make an improved bid for McTominay, who has made 254 appearances for the Manchester giants.

The Scotland international was a key member of Erik ten Hag’s side last season, making 13 goal contributions in 43 appearances across all competitions.

Ten Hag said during pre-season he wants the 27-year-old to stay at Old Trafford. But with a year remaining on his current contract, the club are reportedly prepared to cash in on him this summer.

The Red Devils are chasing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte but the club want £51 million for the Uruguay international.

They cannot hope to complete a move for Ugarte unless they offload a midfielder from the squad, and McTominay appears to be the likely candidate heading for the exit door.

Apart from Fulham, the Scot has also been attracting a lot of interest from Serie A side Napoli.

Manager Antonio Conte has made him a priority target and is intent on bringing him to Italy.

But they have already had a loan bid rejected for the 27-year-old and may not afford to meet United’s £30m asking fee.
