Ipswich Town are on the brink of securing a loan deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to EADT.
The Tractor Boys have been negotiating with the Blues for the 22-year-old Albanian international since last week. An agreement has now been reached, and an official announcement is imminent.
Broja will add firepower to a forward line already boasting Liam Delap, George Hirst, Ali Al-Hamadi, and Freddie Ladapo, with the latter expected to depart the club.
The Chelsea academy graduate has struggled for regular first-team football in recent seasons despite showing promise during loan spells at Vitesse and Southampton.
He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in December 2022, which kept him out until September 2023.
Broja joined Fulham in the January transfer window but struggled for game time at Craven Cottage. He made just eight appearances and failed to score.
The Albanian is undergoing medicals with Ipswich ahead of the proposed move. Both clubs are still discussing how much the loan fee would involve.
The Blues are also trying to insert an obligation-to-buy clause worth around £30 million, similar to the deal they struck with Newcastle United for Lewis Hall.
The 22-year-old striker has been training away from Chelsea’s first team since returning from the pre-season tour of the United States earlier this month as he and the club work to find him a new home, either on loan or permanently.
Ipswich will depend on Broja and Sammie Szmodics to spearhead them to safety with their goals.
Ipswich’s busy summer of recruitment shows no signs of slowing down, with Broja set to become the club’s tenth new arrival.
The Premier League newcomers have already splashed out on the likes of Arijanet Muric, Jacob Greaves, Szmodics, and Omari Hutchinson.
With the addition of Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City and Broja, Ipswich have now reached their maximum number of domestic loan players permitted by Premier League rules.
