Ipswich Town are looking to sign a new midfielder this summer.
After securing promotion to the Premier League last season, the Tractor Boys will be looking to stay up in the top flight under Kieran McKenna.
Earlier this week, Ipswich were linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, but it appears they are also considering other options.
According to Dharmesh Sheth, Ipswich are in talks with Napoli over the signing of Swedish international midfielder Jens Cajuste.
Premier League rivals Brentford were in talks to sign the 25-year-old midfielder, but he will now fly back to Italy after his £10 million has stalled.
Ipswich want to sign him on a straight loan and it remains to be seen whether Napoli agree to their proposal.
The Sky Sports journalist wrote on X: “Ipswich Town in talks with Napoli over the signing of Swedish international midfielder Jens Cajuste.
“Deal under discussion is for a straight loan. This after loan with obligation to buy to Brentford broke down.”
Ipswich could face a tough fight to land Cajuste as several Premier League clubs, including Everton, have joined the race for his signature.
Cajuste joined Napoli last season from Reims and made 35 appearances in all competitions. He is a versatile player who can play as a defensive midfielder or in the number six role.
Known for his ability to create and break up play, Cajuste would be a fantastic addition to the newly promoted Premier League side.
He has made 23 appearances for the Swedish national team. Although his move to Napoli has not worked out well, that does not make him a bad player overnight.
With Brentford now out of the picture, the door has been opened for Ipswich Town to secure a deal for Cajuste on loan.
It has been a busy transfer window for the Tractor Boys, with as many as six new players arriving at Portman Road this summer.
