Ipswich Town have not ruled out signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja despite a move for the 22-year-old collapsing, according to The Guardian.
The Tractor Boys had agreed to take the Albanian on loan for the season. They would pay £30 million to the Blues if they managed to avoid relegation.
Ipswich were set to close the deal but could not agree on personal terms with Broja. However, the deal could go through before the transfer deadline closes this Saturday.
The Premier League newcomers need all the firepower they can get to avoid the drop back into the second division.
Ipswich signed the Championship top scorer last season, Sammie Szmodics and the Irishman got off the mark over the weekend with a goal against champions Manchester City. But they are still in the market for attacking additions to provide options for manager Kieran McKenna.
Broja is on their radar. The Cobham Academy graduate is looking for game time with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu ahead of him in the pecking order but had reservations about a move to Suffolk.
It remains to be seen if Ipswich can get him keen on the move and get the deal over the line.
The Tractor Boys are also reportedly interested in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, who has been training away from the first team as the Blues try to force him out.
The 25-year-old would bolster the Ipswich defence, providing competition for Jacob Greaves and Dara O’Shea.
Chalobah is a terrific addition to the club. But he is also not keen on leaving Chelsea, where he has a long-term contract.
Chalobah can afford to be picky about his next destination as he has a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.
