Liverpool star Curtis Jones likely to miss Premier League clash vs Manchester United

Liverpool to appeal Curtis Jones red card

Liverpool are set to face Manchester United in a blockbuster Premier League clash on Sunday at Old Trafford.

The Reds have made an excellent start under new boss Arne Slot, comfortably beating Ipswich Town and Brentford to pick up maximum points from their first two league encounters.

The Merseyside giants will enter as favourites against their bitter rivals who suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

However, in a blow for Liverpool, Curtis Jones will likely not be available for their trip to Manchester.

Football journalist David Lynch says the 23-year-old will miss training today and he is not expected to be fit for Sunday’s match.

Jones was part of the Reds’ squad against Ipswich but sat out the success over Brentford due to a suspected groin injury.

The midfielder also missed 13 matches for the Merseyside outfit last season due to three separate injuries. He featured in 36 appearances across all competitions, with eight goal contributions to his name.

Apart from English footballer, Liverpool do not have any other injury issues and manager Arne Slot will have all his key players available against United.

Jones is one of the finest talents to have emerged from the Reds’ academy.

He progressed through the youth ranks to earn his professional debut in 2019 against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and has since made over 130 senior appearances.
