Man United linked with Calvert-Lewin amid forward search

Manchester United have emerged as a potential suitor for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to Sky Sports.

The England international is one of several strikers being considered by the Red Devils as they assess their attacking options.

However, sources close to the club suggest that bolstering the forward line is not a priority now.

With Rasmus Hojlund already on the books and Joshua Zirkzee joining from Bologna this summer, United are relatively well-stocked in the attacking department.

Any further incomings will depend on player departures, with the club open to offloading several fringe players to generate funds.

Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation makes him a target for many Premier League clubs.

The 26-year-old has just one year remaining on his Everton deal, making him a potentially attractive target for clubs looking for a cheaper striker option this window or a bargain next summer.

Despite netting only seven times and missing 16 big chances in the Premier League last season, Calvert-Lewin still has many suitors keen on his signature.

Newcastle United were at the front of the queue, but a deal collapsed in the final minute. Man United’s interest could be something, but the Red Devils are prioritising other areas of the pitch.

The Reds need a new left-back to cover for the often-injured Luke Shaw as Tyrell Malacia continues his recovery from a long-term setback.

United also desperately need a defensive midfielder in their ranks. They struggled last term due to the lack of athleticism in the middle and need to plug that hole.

United were after Manuel Ugarte, but that deal has stalled due to Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price, forcing the English side to consider other options like Sander Berge and Youssouf Fofana.

The Premier League giants could also use new wing options, but it has been quiet on that front, with United focused on bringing defensive reinforcement.

Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are in England to sign for United. They will become the club’s third and fourth summer signings after Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
