Newcastle United are expected to be active in the final month of the summer transfer window.
The Magpies did a fantastic job in June, selling two players and putting themselves in a good financial position to comply with the PSR threat.
Now, they can spend heavily again, and a few signings are needed as Eddie Howe looks to build a strong squad for next season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are close to securing the signing of Sheffield United striker William Osula.
The Magpies have a deal in place to sign the Denmark Under-21 international. Newcastle have agreed a fee in the region of £10 million with £5 million add-ons for the 20-year-old exciting striker.
The transfer guru adds that the “final details” of the deal are being sorted out at the moment, and then the players will sign the documents.
Romano wrote on X: “William Osula to Newcastle, here we go! Deal in place for £10m fee plus £5m add-ons for 20 year old striker joining from Sheffield United. Final details being sorted then time to sign all documents.”
According to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, the young talent will initially be seen as a squad player, and Newcastle are looking to add more depth and quality in its forward department.
There were suggestions that the Magpies could offload Callum Wilson this summer, but it has not happened yet. The experienced striker seems likely to stay at St James’ Park next season.
The 32-year-old striker is entering the final year of his contract at St James’ Park and Newcastle could be tempted to offload him. In that case, Osula, who has predominantly played as a forward for the Blades but can also play through the middle, will play as a cover for Alexander Isak.
