Nottingham Forest eyeing deadline day move for James Ward-Prowse

Nottingham Forest are looking to add a new midfielder before the 2024 summer transfer window closes.

The Tricky Trees have been busy this summer as they have added the likes of Nikolo Milenkovic, Elliot Anderson, Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa to their ranks.

However, they want to bring in a few more players on deadline day.

According to Sky Sports, Forest are exploring the conditions of a deal for James Ward-Prowse.

The England international is a highly experienced midfielder who has made 463 club appearances in his career so far.

He is an academy product of Southampton, where he scored 55 and created 52 assists in 410 appearances between 2011 and 2023.

The 29-year-old joined West Ham United last summer in a £30 million deal following the Saints’ relegation to the Championship.

He played an important role for the Hammers last season featuring in 51 games across all competitions.

However, a summer of big-spending at the London Stadium has resulted in the midfielder dropping down the pecking order, and West Ham could be open to offers for him.

Ward-Prowse would be an excellent acquisition for Nottingham Forest but it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal over the line for him on deadline day.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side were also negotiating a deal for Roma’s Edoardo Bove but the Italian is now poised to join Eintracht Frankfurt.

They had also made an official offer for the 22-year-old but he apparently wants to join the German club.
