Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in their Premier League opener on Saturday.
Chris Wood scored the crucial goal that ensured they got a point from the City Ground encounter.
But despite Wood’s brilliance, the Tricky Trees are in the market for a new striker as the New Zealand international has turned 32 and they cannot rely on him all season.
According to a report from De Telegraaf, Forest have submitted a first bid worth £21 million for Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez.
It is said their offer is likely to be turned down by the Dutch outfit as they want around £30m for a transfer.
Santiago began his career at Mexican side Cruz Azul before joining Feyenoord in 2022.
He hit the ground running at the Rotterdam club, scoring 53 goals in 89 appearances.
The Mexico international could be a smart acquisition as he is young, talented and an excellent goalscorer.
Forest most recently added Ramon Sosa from Argentine club Talleres in a deal around £11 million.
Sosa is regarded as one of the finest talents to emerge from South America in recent years. He can play on either flank or in a forward role, and has impressed with his excellent performances at club and international level.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been very active in this transfer window, having already signed Jota Silva, Elliot Anderson, Marko Stamenic, Eric da Silva Moreira, Nikola Milenkovic and Carlos Miguel.
