PSG have now held initial talks with Manchester United over signing Jadon Sancho

Paris Saint-Germain have held initial talks with Manchester United over the signing of English forward Jadon Sancho, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag played the 24-year-old as a number 9 in the friendly against Liverpool last week following the injury to Rasmus Hojlund, and while he struggled to make much of an impact, the Dutchman insists Sancho has what it takes to keep playing in the position and could feature him there against Manchester City in the Community Shield this Saturday.

The Man United star spent the second half of last term on loan at Borussia Dortmund after falling out with Ten Hag and spending the first half of the season outside of the first-team as a result.

While both parties have now sorted out their differences, the future of Sancho at the Old Trafford club is far from guaranteed, especially after PSG showed interest.

Discussions have taken place over the conditions of a potential deal and Sancho could be open to the move, with personal terms not expected to be a problem.

Man United want to sign Uruguay international midfielder Manuel Ugarte, with dialogue open between both clubs because of that, and it remains to be seen if both parties will be open to a swap deal.

PSG would want around €60 million for their number 6, and the Red Devils are unwilling to part with such an amount for a player the French giants consider surplus to requirements.

The Ligue 1 club want a replacement for Kylian Mbappe and have been impressed with Sancho, especially after he helped Dortmund reach the final of the Champions League last term.

Man United reportedly want €60m for the England international attacker, but whether PSG agree with the valuation is a doubt.

A straight swap deal which would see Ugarte move in the other direction makes sense, but it is not going to be straightforward and both clubs need to come up with a mutually beneficial solution.
