Liverpool have decided to allow young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic to go out on loan.
The 19-year-old is a highly-rated young midfielder who made a strong impact under Jurgen Klopp. He is seen as one of the brightest talents in the club’s academy but struggled with injuries last season.
Many thought that he would become an important member of the side under Arne Slot, but the Reds have other plans.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Red Bull Salzburg are in advanced talks to sign Bajcetic on loan.
The negotiations between the two clubs are at final stages, and Salzburg have close to winning the race for his signature.
Bajcetic was also wanted by clubs in Spain, but he is likely to play under Pep Lijnders, who knows him very well.
Romano wrote on X: “RB Salzburg in advanced talks to sign Stefan Bajčetić on loan from Liverpool.
“Negotiations at final stages with details to be clarified but already underway, as Pep Lijnders wants Stefan. Clubs in Spain also wanted him but RB Salzburg are now close.”
Slot has a wealth of midfield options but he still wanted to sign a number six this summer. Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Martin Zubimendi but the player decided to stay with Real Sociedad instead.
Bajcetic is blessed with great technical abilities and Jordan Henderson, the former Liverpool skipper, previously hailed him as an “outstanding” player.
Liverpool rate him highly and they want him to play regularly elsewhere. The fact that Lijnders wants to take him at Salzburg probably has promoted Liverpool to arrange the loan deal.
The club highly respect the work done by Lijnders under Klopp, and there is faith that Salzburg will take great care of the young midfielder.
In another Liverpool news, 22-year-old Reds defender has secured loan move to Championship club.
