Sam Johnstone wants to leave Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace could lose a few first-team players before the end of this month.

The Eagles have received a third bid from Newcastle United for Marc Guehi and there is a hope that a compromise can be reached.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Sam Johnstone now wants to leave Selhurst Park this summer.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper has spoken with Palace officials and requested that they make him available for transfer in this window.

He joined the Eagles for free in 2022 and has made 34 appearances for the club in two seasons.

Oliver Glasner has decided to give Dean Henderson the No. 1 shirt. The former Manchester United goalkeeper wore the No. 30 last season, but he impressed heavily under Glasner.

Johnstone, who is fit again after missing the final two months of the season, has been informed about the decision. He now wants to move on as he feels that he needs to play regularly in order to book a place in the international team.

It is a clear indication that Henderson will get the nod ahead of him in the coming season, and he is likely to be the first-choice keeper ahead of Sunday’s opener versus Brentford.

Johnstone has plenty of football left in him, and there will be no shortage of suitors if he decides to move elsewhere.

Palace could be forced to sign a new goalkeeper if Johnstone leaves. The next few days could be hectic for Palace as we approach the climax of the spectacle aka the summer transfer window.

The Eagles have signed three players so far, but Glasner will definitely be looking to add more new faces, especially if Guehi leaves the club.

Fulham have recently shown interest in Joachim Andersen, but they need to come up with a better offer to sign the centre-back.
