Tottenham working on bid for Dominic Solanke

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to work on signing a new striker in the summer transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear that signing a new striker is a priority for the club this summer, and they are checking on someone who has proven himself in the Premier League.

According to a report from the Sunday Mirror (page 71, 4 August), Spurs will have to be creative if they want to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

The 26-year-old striker has been outstanding for the Cherries since leaving Liverpool in January 2019. He scored 19 Premier League goals last season and is being tracked by Chelsea.

The Cherries have made it clear that the 26-year-old will only depart if his £65 million release clause is matched.

The report says that Tottenham are unlikely to offer that kind of money in cash. So, they could seek to include players in a part-swap package for Solanke this month.

Liverpool will be set to receive a 20 per cent cut of any profit made from an onward transfer, and hence Bournemouth may not accept such a proposal unless the players involved are liked by them.

Spurs need to push for more signings in August

Tottenham have done well to remove some of their fringe players from the squad. Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic, Bryan Gill, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been offloaded either on loan or on a free transfer.

Joe Rodon has also left the club to join Leeds United permanently. Spurs have signed Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall while Timo Werner’s loan move has been made permanent.

Solanke has proven himself in the Premier League, and he would be a fantastic addition to the side. He is approaching the prime years of his career, and it is high time for the north London club to secure his signature.

Strikers do not come cheap these days, and Spurs may have to pay a huge transfer fee to sign him.
