West Ham are currently working on multiple deals, as Julen Lopetegui wants to add more players to the side.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug. They are also close to signing Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.
Adding a new right-back is a priority for the Hammers, and West Ham are working on a deal to sign Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
According to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, there is a “growing optimism” that West Ham can strike a deal for Wan-Bissaka.
The Hammers initially changed plans from signing Wan-Bissak to Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui, but they couldn’t reach an agreement. It allowed Manchester United to jump into the race and they are close to signing him.
Now, that opens the door for Wan-Biassaka to leave, although the Hammers are yet to reach an agreement for the former Crystal Palace full-back.
Sheth says that West Ham are in talks over the fee and structure of the payments.
Wan-Bissaka is understood to be keen on the move, and agreeing personal terms with the experienced defender will not be an issue.
Sheth told Sky Sports (transfer centre Live blog; 2 August: 7.45 am): “There is growing optimism West Ham can strike a deal with Manchester United for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
“The clubs remain in talks over the fee and structure of the payments.
“Wan-Bissaka is understood to be keen on the move with personal terms not expected to be an issue.”
After Ben Johnson left the club on a free transfer to join Ipswich Town, the Hammers needed to bring in a new right-back.
Wan-Bissaka is very strong with his tackling and clearances, especially in one-on-one situations, but he offers very little going forward, which can be a big issue.
Nevertheless, he is vastly experienced, and a move to the London Stadium is highly on the cards.
