West Ham reach verbal agreement with Jhon Duran

West Ham are desperate to sign a new striker this summer.

Julen Lopetegui is not going to make the same mistake that David Moyes made during his time—failing to sign a top-quality striker.

The Hammers did sign Danny Ings from Aston Villa and Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, but both proved to be huge flops. While Ings remains at the club, Scamacca was offloaded after just one season.

West Ham have made strong efforts to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran during the summer. They have submitted two really attractive offers for the Colombian striker but are way off the player’s valuation.

Aston Villa are demanding a fee of around £25 million for the 20-year-old striker, and the Hammers are not ready to meet that amount. However, according to Florian Plettenberg, their interest in the striker is “most concrete”.

In the meantime, West Ham are making an effort to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug.

They have been in talks with the German club to sign the 31-year-old striker and have submitted a fresh bid in the region of £21 million. While Dortmund have not rejected the bid yet, they are demanding a fee of around £25 million for the striker.

Plettenberg says that the Hammers have reached a “verbal agreement” with the young striker, who is equally keen to move to the London Stadium.

Fabrizio Romano earlier claimed that Villa are demanding a fee in the region of £40 million for Duran, and that figure looks accurate, rather than £25 million.

He was chased by Chelsea last month but the Blues backed off after failing to negotiate a deal with Villa. West Ham reportedly offered around £32 million plus an academy player for Duran, but it was rejected.

If the Hammers fail to strike a deal with Dortmund, they should make a concrete effort to sign Duran.

In another West Ham news, player is on his way to undergo his medical ahead of Hammers move.
