West Ham are very close to securing the signing of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.
The Hammers have already agreed a £25 million deal (plus add-ons) with the Whites for the Dutch winger, and the player will undergo his medical today (1 August) before completing his move.
Fabrizio Romano says that West Ham did an excellent job behind the scenes in June and then presented a formal bid some ten days ago.
Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove were also interested in signing Summerville, but they failed to reach an agreement with Leeds.
The Italian journalist adds that the deal is “almost done” and that everyone is waiting “for the signing of all documents.”
Romano wrote in the Daily briefing: “Crysencio Summerville will undergo his medical at West Ham today. The deal is almost done, and we are just waiting for the signing of all documents.”
West Ham working on multiple deals
Leeds have already sold some top-quality players this summer, but they were quite confident of keeping hold of Summerville after selling Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur.
Summerville was arguably the best player for the Whites in the Championship last season as he managed 21 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
However, Leeds were expected to find it hard to keep hold of their star players after failing to secure promotion last season, and it seems Summerville is now on his way to joining the Hammers in the coming days.
West Ham have already added a quality attacking midfielder in Luis Guilherme, who joined from Palmeiras. Julen Lopetegui has still looked to bolster that area, and they are on the verge of signing a fantastic player.
The Hammers are also close to signing Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and they are working on a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug.
