Alan Rough makes bold Celtic and Rangers admission on SPFL season

Celtic have made an excellent start to the season, but Rangers are capable of taking points off them, according to Alan Rough.

The Bhoys have won five games in a row in the Scottish Premiership, and at the moment, it looks like they are simply unbeatable.

Celtic have earned a memorable victory in the Champions League in the opening game and it appears that they could go unbeaten this season.

However, Rangers are progressing smoothly under Philippe Clement after a stuttering start and have picked up three wins in a row since their defeat against Celtic.

Rough says that on paper, it may look like Celtic will remain unbeaten, but “it won’t happen”. He expects Rangers and Hearts and other teams to end Celtic’s juggernaut at some point.

“On paper you’d say yeah, but it won’t happen. Because other teams have got to act together,” said Rough on PLZ Soccer.

“Rangers are more of a force I think. Aberdeen are obviously proven force. Hibs and Hearts haven’t got their act together. So I would take one of these teams to take point off Celtic.”

Rangers can beat Celtic at Ibrox

Rough is absolutely spot on here. At the moment, it feels like Celtic are unstoppable, but the season has only begun. There should be a lot of twists and turns, and Celtic could find themselves in an uncomfortable position like last season if they lose a few games in the Champions League.

Rangers lost 3-0 at Parkhead earlier this season, but they can get their revenge against the Hoops at Ibrox. The Gers are looking to develop a winning momentum under Philippe Clement and they are very much in the title race.

It is not always easy to enjoy an unbeaten run in a league campaign and Celtic might struggle at some point. There is still a high chance the Hoops could lose a few games.
