Aston Villa picked up their third win in the Premier League after beating Everton 3-2 at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
Villa came from 2-0 down to pick up all three points in a thrilling game. Ollie Watkins scored twice while Jhon Duran scored a worldie as Unai Emerey’s side picked up back-to-back wins.
Watkins could have completed his hat-trick, but he missed a glorious opportunity in the second half.
Everton also came close to equalising it through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the Toffees striker only managed to hit the post.
Speaking on Match of the Day, both Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker were left amazed by Duran’s goal, with Shearer describing it as “unbelievable”.
Shearer said: “The way he cuts it, you can see the bend on it, the angle from behind, what a strike that is! Unbelievable.”
Lineker added: “Absolutely fantastic.”
Jhon Duran scores a magical goal for Aston Villa
It was a brilliant game for the neutral fans as both sides created loads of chances, and the scoreline could have easily been different.
However, Villa managed to pick up all three points, and they will be in high spirits ahead of their Champions League game in midweek.
Duran has scored three goals this season already and managed eight Premier League goals and has started in only three of them.
The young striker was linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer, but nobody met Villa’s asking price.
The club feel that Duran is at the right place and that he will improve under Emery.
The Spanish boss will not be particularly happy with his side’s defending, but Villa were so good going forward.
Meanwhile, the pressure is now mounting on Sean Dyche after Everton made a disastrous start to the season. They are now four games without a win, and Dyche will be frustrated by the fact that they lost twice from winnable positions.
