Everton will take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League clash on Saturday (28 September) at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have picked up their first point of the season last week after losing their opening four games. They managed a 1-1 draw against Leicester City away from home.
Alan Shearer says that Everton are under “huge” pressure, and he predicts a draw for this game.
Crystal Palace are also searching for their first win of the season, but they have picked three draws in their last three games. Oliver Glasner’s side should be confident of putting up a strong performance for this game.
Shearer wrote for The Metro: “What a tough one to predict. Everton are under huge pressure and they’ve just got news of the new takeover. Palace are not really scoring as many goals as they possibly could or should. I’m going to go for a draw.”
Both sides need to win this game
Everton have received massive news this week as their ownership saga appears to have come to a resolution. Dan Friedkin has agreed a deal with Farhad Moshiri, and they are almost close to completing the takeover.
As it stands, they are only waiting for the final approval from the Premier League, which they expect to get it quickly.
On the pitch, the results need to improve. Everton cannot go into the next season in a new stadium playing in the Championship. They have to win games and get the confidence back.
The Toffees have been impressive in parts, but their defence has let them down in the previous games.
Shearer has rightly pointed out that Palace are not scoring enough goals at the moment as they possibly should. They are heading into this match on the back of a 0-0 draw against Manchester United, a game they could have won at Selhurst Park.
