Andy Goldstein insists Man United will sack Ten Hag by January

Andy Goldstein made a bold claim that Manchester United will sack Erik ten Hag by January if he doesn’t turn their fortunes around sooner rather than later.

Man United suffered an embarrasing 3-0 thrashing by Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in Sunday’s box office clash.

The Red Devils were played out of the park by their north London counterparts.

Despite welcoming Spurs to the Theatre of Dreams on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, they were overrun by Tottenham’s bullish attacking brand of football.

Goldstein was live on talkSPORT with former Tottenham striker Darren Bent, who claimed Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe would be a good fit for Man United.

“When I was talking about a manager, someone I think would fit, but I don’t think he’ll leave where he is – Eddie Howe,” Bent said.

“Remember the toxicity at Newcastle when he got the job to where they are now, and he’s worked with Dan Ashworth.

“Their relationship was good, but my only thing is, why would he leave Newcastle to go to Man United right now?

“They’re [Man United] a bigger club, but Newcastle at the minute look like they’re trying to build something.”

On why Man United haven’t pulled the plug on Ten Hag, Bent suggested that they’re not sure who to get in next, but Goldstein insisted that the Dutchman “won’t be there in January”.

Ten Hag is certainly threading a tightrope at Man United, and there’s a decent chance Goldstein’s bold prediction could become a reality.

The Red Devils are languishing in the bottom half of the table, having claimed seven points from six games, and are just four above the relegation zone.

Ten Hag’s troops travel to Porto in midweek, hoping to get their Europa League campaign on track following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Twente in the curtain-raiser.

If Man United fail to get a win in the coming fixtures, the board may have a decision to make over Ten Hag’s long-term future.
