Liverpool earned a comfortable 3-0 victory against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday (21 September) at Anfield.
Luis Diaz scored twice, and Darwin Nunez added another as the Reds sealed all three points at Anfield and moved to the top of the Premier League table, albeit temporarily.
Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up assists as Liverpool inflicted heavy damage in the first half.
After the game, Arne Slot was heavily pleased with the performance of Alexander-Arnold and hailed him as an “outstanding” player.
The Reds boss said after the game: “I’m not surprised he is involved in so many goals because his quality is outstanding but what I also liked today was how he defended. If he can combine those two things he makes me really happy.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a generational talent for Liverpool
The England right-back is a world-class player in his own right. His talent was spotted early by Jurgen Klopp, and the German boss made him one of the best in the Premier League.
At only 25 years of age, Alexander-Arnold has managed 19 goals and 81 assists in his career for Liverpool. The numbers are simply insane, and it goes to show that he is a generational talent.
The Reds have now picked up four clean sheets under Slot in the Premier League, and defensively the Reds have looked more solid than what they were under Klopp.
Slot has not made huge changes from Klopp, and the basic structure remains the same. He has not added too many players to the side; rather, all he did was make a few tweaks here and there.
Liverpool will face West Ham in the Carabao Cup in midweek, and Slot is expected to make a few changes to the squad. Trent might be rested, with Connor Bradley likely to come in his place.
Alexander-Arnold has a contract until the end of the season, and Liverpool are yet to offer him a new deal. But it is highly likely that they will look to reach a conclusion at some point this season.
