Aston Villa v Wolves: Predicted starting XI

Aston Villa return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park.

The Villains will be keen on continuing their impressive start to the season that has seen them clinch nine points from 12 available in the league.

Unai Emery’s charges also began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Switzerland outfit Young Boys, with several players delivering fantastic performances across the park.

Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, Jhon Duran, and Amadou Onana proved their mettle on the European stage.

However, they face a tricky Wolves side, a team Rogers described as awkward. The Midlands club have yet to pick up a win in the league this season.

Their campaign began with an expected 2-0 loss to Arsenal followed by a 6-2 mullering at the hands of a not-so-impressive Chelsea.

Their draw with Nottingham Forest is the only point they have on the league log, and after that, they lost 2-1 to Newcastle United. Brighton & Hove Albion also sent them packing from the Third Round of the EFL Cup.

These wounded Wolves will be out to grind a result to pull themselves out from the foot of the table.

Meanwhile, Emery might consider a few changes to refresh his team this weekend. Watkins came off during the Young Boys clash and had an icepack on his angle. The coach might start Duran ahead of the England international to allow him to fully recover.

Leon Bailey and Ian Maatsen could also get their chance to contribute to the team from the starting XI. It will be interesting to see if Emery continues to roll with Dutch right-back Lamare Bogarde after his poor performance in Europe, which earned him a 3/10 rating from us

Aston Villa’s predicted starting line-up

(4-2-2-2): Emilian Martinez; Lamare Bogarde, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Ian Maatsen; Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley; Jacob Ramsey, Ollie Watkins; Jhon Duran, Morgan Rogers.
