BBC pundit Leon Osman was left impressed by Brennan Johnson’s performance in Tottenham Hotspur’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Manchester United.
Johnson was in fine form for the Lilywhites at Old Trafford, especially in the first half.
The Welsh international opened the scoring for Tottenham just three minutes into the game, tucking home a low cross from Micky van de Ven at the far post.
Tottenham played Man United out of the park in the first half. Ange Postecoglou’s side dominated the game and barely allowed Man United to have a sight of Guglielmo Vicario’s goal.
Spurs were guilty of spurning clear-cut goalscoring opportunities and could have gone into the half-time interval with more than a 1-0 lead.
However, Johnson’s tap-in proved to be the difference between both sides in the opening 45 minutes, and Osman was left impressed by the 23-year-old forward.
“Brennan Johnson looks like a player who has found his confidence,” Osman wrote on BBC Sports Live.
“It is easy when you have got quality players always looking for your run – he wouldn’t believe the space he had for that tap-in.”
Johnson was also involved in Tottenham’s second goal.
His deflected cross fell kindly into the path of Dejan Kulusevski, who acrobatically poked the ball past Andre Onana just two minutes into the second half.
Summer signing Dominic Solanke then wrapped up the three points for Spurs after latching on to a flicked header from Pape Matar Sarr to claim his second league goal for the club.
Johnson could have scored a brace in the first half after crashing an effort off the frame of the goal, but he would have been delighted to continue his recent goalscoring streak.
His third-minute strike means the former Brentford academy talent has now scored in four consecutive games across all competitions.
Johnson will be eager to continue his rich vein of form when Spurs travel to Hungary to take on Ferencvarosi in the Europa League on Thursday.
