Everton have made a poor start to the season but Sean Dyche’s job is safe at the Merseyside club, according to Shamoon Hafez.
Writing for the BBC Sports website on 16 September, the journalist says that sources within the club have suggested that the 53-year-old is still the right man for the club and his job is not under any major threat.
Everton feel that Dyche did a terrific job last season in taking the club out of the relegation zone despite points being deducted on two occasions for breaking financial rules. He has developed good fortunes at the club and deserves a proper chance to turn the tide around.
The Toffees lost 3-2 against Aston Villa at Villa Park last week and they sit at the bottom of the Premier League alongside Southampton.
Hafez wrote: “Club sources have told BBC Sport the 53-year-old has credit in the bank from his 20 months in charge, in which he steered them away from relegation.”
Sean Dyche deserves the chance to change fortunes at Everton
The Toffees have played some good football so far but Dyche will be really frustrated with the manner of their defeats, especially in the last two games.
On both occasions, they led by two goals and ended up on the losing side. With a few tweaks in the system, Dyche should be able to rectify the mistakes.
Dyche is safe at the moment, but his job is likely to be under threat, especially if John Textor completes the ownership of the club from Farhad Moshiri.
It looks like Everton will once again go through the same ordeal of battling for Premier League safety which has been the recurrent theme in the past few seasons.
Even if Dyche stays and Everton manage to survive yet again, the club will not be in a stable position unless there is a new owner in place.
While a new era waits for the Toffees at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next season, Everton fans will not want to be in the Championship.
Everton should have picked up points from both of their last two games, and the manner of the defeat will inflict psychological damage on the players. The Toffees need to win games, otherwise pressure will mount on Dyche.
