Manchester United claimed an emphatic 7-0 victory over League One outfit Barnsley in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
It was a fantastic attacking display from the hosts as Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen all scored twice at Old Trafford.
Even the much-maligned Antony got on the scoresheet with a first-half penalty.
All the United players were impressive with their performances but Garnacho was probably the best of them all.
The Argentina international registered two goals as well as two assists, and deservedly got the highest rating from the national media.
The 20-year-old also registered three key passes, three long balls as well as three big chances in the match.
Garnacho looked very happy with the victory as he later took to social media to post the following Instagram message: “What a night at Old Trafford!”
His captain Bruno Fernandes, who wasn’t part of the starting XI but came on for the final 30 minutes against Barnsley, replied to his post: “What a player”.
Manchester United were very low on confidence following their humiliating defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool.
However, they have made a huge comeback after the international break as they comfortably defeated Southampton before completely destroying Barnsley 7-0 on Tuesday.
Erik ten Hag’s men will now return to Premier League action on Saturday when they travel to Crystal Palace.
The Eagles have been very unconvincing this campaign as they are yet to win a league game.
United have a brilliant opportunity to continue their winning run at the expense of the South Londoners this weekend.
