Chris Sutton predicts result of Crystal Palace clash vs Leicester

Crystal Palace have made a slow start to the 2024-25 campaign as they are yet to claim a victory in the Premier League.

The Eagles lost their opening two league matches to Brentford and West Ham United after conceding two goals in both fixtures.

However, they made a big comeback in the EFL Cup, thrashing Norwich City 4-0 in a completely one-sided game.

The confidence gained from that win was evident in their next encounter at Stamford Bridge as they managed to steal a point against Chelsea.

Oliver Glasner’s men are now set to host Leicester City who will enter the match on the back of a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa before the international break.

Chris Sutton calls Palace’s start to the season ‘disappointing’ as they are still waiting for their first win.

However, he backs them for a 2-1 success against Leicester who have also endured a difficult start to life in the English top-flight.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Sutton said: “Crystal Palace have made a slow start to the season and in fact I’d even call it disappointing, but their wait for a first win of the new campaign won’t go on much longer.

“They should be a little bit too streetwise for Leicester, and I am finding it difficult to back the Foxes at the moment – it looks to me like they have got a long battle ahead of them to stay up”.

Crystal Palace did well this summer as they managed to retain the services of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi despite huge interest in the two Premier League stars.

The South Londoners also brought in the likes of Chadi Riad, Ismaila Sarr, Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah on permanent deals while also securing loan moves for Trevoh Chalobah and Matt Turner.

However, the Eagles have failed to make a good start to the season, losing against Brentford and West Ham.

Oliver Glasner’s men now have a great opportunity to return to winning ways this weekend as they will be playing at home against a side who are favourites for relegation to the Championship.
