Curtis Jones expected to be fit ahead of Liverpool v Nottingham Forest

Liverpool will face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday (14 September) after the international break.

The Reds have made a strong start to the season, winning all of their opening three Premier League games.

Arne Slot’s side have kept clean sheets in their opening three games, and the Reds will be looking to maintain their winning form when they take on Forest at Anfield.

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is expected to be fit ahead of the match.

Jones missed the last two games with a muscle problem, but he has returned to full fitness, and should be in the squad for the game against Forest.

The return of Curtis Jones will be huge boost for Arne Slot

The Reds suffered a massive blow this week after Harvey Elliott fractured his foot.

The versatile young midfielder is likely to be sidelined until late October. It has been a frustrating season for him, as he is mainly seen as a super sub so far.

He has managed only seven minutes so far in this campaign and will now miss a lot of games through injury. Slot views him as an attacking midfielder or No10 following the arrival of Federico Chiesa, but the Reds boss will have to rely on other options.

Alexis Mac Allister was a doubt for Argentina’s clash with Colombia, but he came from the bench in the 2-1 defeat. Slot could be reluctant to use him straightaway after a long injury, and the Argentine is likely to be used from the bench.

In such a scenario, Slot could use Jones in the starting line-up, and that’s why his return to the side couldn’t have come at a better time.

The Dutch manager, meanwhile, will be pleased with the performance of Ryan Gravenberch, who was terrific in the 2-2 draw against Germany this week.
