Arsenal are set to return to Premier League action this Sunday when they take on Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.
The 1-1 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in their previous game was a blow to their title aspirations and they will be hoping to make a comeback against Spurs.
Many of their players are currently on international duty, but Ben White isn’t involved with England despite his impressive club form.
It’s been more than two years since the 26-year-old last played for his country. He was part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2022 World Cup but left the tournament early due to personal reasons.
Reports later suggested he had an alleged bust-up with assistant Steve Holland but Southgate repeatedly denied the incident.
Now interim boss Lee Carsley says he is not planning to talk to White about playing for England, adding the right-back had asked not be contacted.
Carsley said (per the Independent): “I’ve not planned to, no.
“We spoke about this in the squad selection. Every player that’s eligible to play for England is in with a chance.
“As far as I was aware, he asked to be not contacted. So, if that changes then that’ll change.”
Ben White has been an excellent player for Arsenal since joining the club in 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion.
He missed just one Premier League game last term as the Gunners narrowly missed out on the title to Manchester City.
This season, he has started all three league fixtures for Mikel Arteta’s side, averaging 1.3 tackles, 2.7 clearances and 1.0 interceptions per game.
The North Londoners will meet their fierce rivals Spurs this weekend and Arteta will be expecting a good display from his top defender.
